The Standover Man was a thirteen page book written by Max to give to Liesel after she said that his hair looked like feathers. It was given to her as a late birthday gift. It was made from the pages of Mein Kampf, covered up with white paint. It tells Max's story of how he came to meet Liesel, and how he felt.

Quotes[]

"All my life I've been scared of men standing over me."

"It makes me understand that the best standover man I've ever known is not a man at all…"

Illustration[]

In the drawings, Max is shown as a bird since Liesel said that his hair, when washed, is like feathers.

Trivia[]
